Development of the combined decarburization process for stainless steel utilizing K-BOP and KTB*
Développement d'un procédé de soufflage combiné (K-BOP + KTB) pour la décarburation des aciers inoxydables
Kawasaki Steel has established the new stainless steel decarburization process utilizing the KTB method in which oxygen gas is blown into the steel melt in RH vacuum degassing vessel. It has become possible to raise the tapping carbon content at K-BOP for reduction of chromium oxidation, and to produce high chromium steel with ultra-low carbon and nitrogen more economically than K-BOP/VOD process, with higher productivity.
