Automatic gauge control for heavy plate mill*
Régulation automatique d’épaisseur pour train à tôles fortes
Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd has developed the new Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) for heavy plate mill in order to decrease the thickness deviation. For the AGC, the drafting schedule model was improved and new tracking method was developed. The new AGC has decreased the thickness deviation of plates by more than 50 % and thus has increased the yield by 0.5 % at the heavy plate mill at Kashima Steel Works.
