Expert system for the control of liquid steel production at Sidmar*
Système expert pour l’élaboration et la coulée de l’aciérie de Sidmar
Since 1990, Sidmar has been applying an in house developed expert system. The system controls all production steps in the steel plant : from desulphurization, hot metal ordering and scrap selection to BOF, tapping, secondary metallurgy, degassing and continuous casting. It contains all metallurgical models and all quality prescriptions and codes of practice.
As such, knowledge and rules are described in a systematic and consistent way. Moreover, process control can be adapted quickly and easily.
